Overview

topos ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data.

Data Collection

All of your data is stored locally on your device:

• Flashcards you create
• Study sessions and statistics
• Deck organization
• Memory Palace configurations

AI Processing

When you use the AI flashcard generation feature:

• Your text is sent to Gemini via a secure proxy to generate flashcards
• Text is processed only for flashcard generation
• Gemini may retain data for up to 55 days per their abuse monitoring policy, then deleted
• We do not store your input text on our servers
• Generated flashcards are saved locally on your device only
• No personal identifiers (name, email, device ID) are sent to Gemini

Analytics

To monitor service health and prevent abuse, we collect anonymous usage data when you use AI features:

• An anonymous device identifier (a cryptographic hash of your device's identifier that cannot be reversed to identify you)
• Whether you have a free or pro subscription
• Number of AI requests and token counts
• Timestamps for rate limiting

This data cannot be used to identify you personally and is only used to prevent abuse and improve the service. We do not use any third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

Usage analytics data is retained for 90 days for analysis purposes, then automatically deleted.

Subscription Data

If you subscribe to topos pro:

• Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple via the App Store
• We receive only anonymous subscription status information
• We do not have access to your payment details

iCloud Sync

For topos Pro subscribers with iCloud sync enabled:

• Your flashcards, decks, memory palaces, and study data sync via your personal iCloud account
• We do not have access to your iCloud data—it stays in your private iCloud container
• Syncing is controlled by you and can be disabled in Settings
• Data syncs across all your devices signed into the same iCloud account

Children's Privacy

topos does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
